Fix OAI UE memory leaks
Fix 1: Replaced asn1cFreeStruc with ASN_STRUCT_FREE in MAC layer to properly
free nested ASN.1 structures in cell group configuration.
Fix 2: Removed premature nullification of dedicatedNAS_Message->buf in
dlInformationTransfer processing to allow proper ASN.1 cleanup.
Fix 3: Fixed memory ownership in nr_rrc_process_dedicatedNAS_MessageList by
copying OCTET_STRING data instead of transferring ownership, preventing
ASN.1 cleanup from losing track of allocated memory
Closes#828
- Replace asn1cFreeStruc with ASN_STRUCT_FREE in MAC layer cleanup
- Fixes improper memory management of NR_CellGroupConfig structures
Root cause: asn1cFreeStruc only calls ASN_STRUCT_RESET + free(), which doesn't properly free nested ASN.1 allocations. ASN_STRUCT_FREE frees all nested structures completely.

- Replaced ITTI message queues with notifiedFIFO for RRC to MAC communication in UE.
- Enables correct message delivery to multiple MAC instances running in parallel threads.
- Introduced `nr_mac_rrc_message_t` union for MAC-RRC messages.
- Updated all relevant message handling and initialization code to use notifiedFIFO.
Reduce race conditions through a itti queue, such that RRC-initiated MAC
memory modifications happen at the same time as MAC thread writes.
However, it doesn't resolve the problem of exact slot we should apply
the new cell configurtion.
- Phy config update and Sidelink frame parameters initialisation
- PSBCH scheduler to trigger TX PSBCH/RX PSBCH actions
- Sidelink indication with rx ind to trigger send SL-MIB to MAC
- Enable Scope for PSBCH use -d or --dqt
- Enable system testing of PSBCH for example using RFSIMULATOR:
- UE1 is a SYNCRONISATION SOURCE UE which transmits PSBCH
started using command -
sudo ./nr-uesoftmodem --sl-mode 2 --sync-ref 4 --rfsim --rfsimulator.serveraddr server
- UE2 syncs onto UE1 during sidelink search, gets the timing and continues to receive PSBCH
started using command -
sudo ./nr-uesoftmodem --sl-mode 2 --rfsim --rfsimulator.serveraddr 127.0.0.1
- In the default use case 2 Sidelink SSBs sent over 16 frames.
- In case SL-SSB configuration needs to be changed use -O option in the above command like
-O ../../../targets/PROJECTS/NR-SIDELINK/CONF/sidelink_preconfig_1txpool.conf
- Phy configuration will be prepared by MAC
- Sidelink preconfiguration parameters passed from RRC->MAC
- Only 1 SSB TA allocation used
- psbch payload prepared by MAC after receiving the tx slss req
OAI is riddled with boolean_t, FALSE, TRUE, etc. This makes no sense, as
there is a standard bool type, and could lead to nasty bugs if a
definition of a bool is non-standard (0 == false, true == !false). This
commit removes all non-standard bools in the whole project.
At this point we are successfully able to build.
Additionally, we can run the scenario,
however, it does not pass. It seems that the gNB
is not connecting to the proxy correctly. Just
wanted to push the progress so far. FYI, the items
that had to be changed to correct the linking issues
were the following:
- mac_rrc_data_ind_ue vs. nr_mac_rrc_data_ind_ue
- rrc_data_req vs. nr_rrc_data_req
- mac_rrc_data_req_ue vs. nr_mac_rrc_data_req_ue
- rrc_data_req_ue vs. rrc_data_req_nr_ue
- rrc_data_req vs. nr_rrc_data_req
The listed functions should be declard in the LTE/NR
UE directory depending on the functionality. Several
were mixed. i.e.: LTE functions being called in NR UE.
Also, removing siWindowLength, siWindowLength_int,
SIBType, SIBPeriod, and siPeriod_int from the NR UE RRC.
These variable were not used in the NR UE and are defined
for LTE only.
Lastly, in the NR_IF_Module.c of the NR UE, the global
variable def_dci_pdu_rel15 is not accessible. Need to
revisit this. For not it is commented out.
